Richard R. Thacker, DO, joined ACOM in late June as Assistant Dean of Clinical Sciences and Clinical Resources and Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Thacker continues to serve as the Medical Education Director for the Tallahassee Core Site.
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care, Thacker practiced Internal Medicine for 23 years in North Florida, including three years in primary care as a National Health Service Corps scholar. He has served as medical director for several skilled nursing facilities as well as Associate Medical Director for Big Bend Hospice. Dr. Thacker received the HCA First Humanitarian award for 2015 in recognition of his service to the Tallahassee community and participation in international medical mission trips.
Dr. Thacker served as President of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association from 2006-2007 and is past Chairman of the Board for Capital Regional Medical Center. He is currently a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Board of Trustees and also serves as Treasurer for the Osteopathic Political Action Committee. He resides in Tallahassee with his wife, Sherry, and children, Blake and Allison.
