Biography

Jonathan Brown, PhD, serves as Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology. Dr. Brown obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Tennessee. He earned his PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of Louisville for his studies on toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling. Dr. Brown’s research interests include the cell signaling processes that lead to and exasperate disease progression in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and has been a co-principal investigator on American Heart Association and National Institutes of Health grants on the topic. He has served on numerous ACOM committees and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Best Evidence Medical Education (BEME), International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) and Society of Leukocyte Biology.
