Biography

Joseph D. Baker, II, DO, FACOFP, serves as Associate Professor of Family Medicine & Geriatrics and Chair of Family Medicine. Dr. Baker received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a family practice residency at Firelands Community Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. Dr. Baker holds certification in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Additionally, he holds a certificate of added qualification in geriatrics. Prior to joining ACOM, Dr. Baker served as Director of Medical Education for Osteopathic Programs at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was responsible for the overall compliance and quality of dually-accredited osteopathic residency programs within the institution. He was the Osteopathic Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency at the medical center from 2006 to 2015, and served as preceptor of osteopathic manipulation from 2007 to 2015. Dr. Baker practiced in various healthcare facilities throughout northeast Ohio for 28 years before moving to Alabama. He is an active member of several associations, including the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
