Biography

Nicole Mitchell, MA, MLIS, serves as Information Technology Librarian & Associate Professor of Library and Information Sciences. Ms. Mitchell obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts degree in history from Georgia College & State University. She earned her Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama. Ms. Mitchell serves as Chair of the ACOM Institutional Review Board (IRB). She is a member of the Medical Library Association and Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association. Ms. Mitchell’s research interests include evidence-based medicine, population health, rural health, the role of librarians in faculty development and continuing medical education, and the history of and healthcare in 19th century prisons and asylums.
