Admissions Overview

At the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM), we welcome all competitive applicants, with a particular emphasis on students from Alabama and the surrounding regions. ACOM uses a rolling admissions process. Applications are reviewed and interview decisions are made at regular intervals throughout the admissions cycle. Students should apply early in the admissions cycle to be competitive in the process.

Citizenship

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This status must be maintained throughout enrollment.

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)

Visit ACOM

  • Submission of recent MCAT scores is required.
  • Preferred: Scores from within four years of the application cycle start date.
  • Note: Older scores may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Prerequisite Coursework

Applicants must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited by an agency formally recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Special Consideration: Students with 75% of their degree completed may be considered under special circumstances with approval from the Dean.
