The ACOM Community Outreach Initiative is committed to building meaningful partnerships and creating opportunities that strengthen the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Guided by ACOM’s InSPIRED core values of Integrity, Service, Passion, Innovation, Respect, Excellence, and Diversity, the initiative engages students, faculty, staff, and community partners in collaborative efforts that address community needs, promote health and wellness, expand access to resources, and cultivate a lasting culture of service. Through compassionate engagement, innovative solutions, and mutual respect, we strive to make a meaningful and sustainable difference in the communities we are privileged to serve.

ACOM’s community outreach efforts are rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to healthier communities. Guided by our InSPIRED core values of Integrity, Service, Passion, Innovation, Respect, Excellence, and Diversity, we engage students, faculty, staff, and community partners to address real needs through education, prevention, and hands-on service.
From health screenings and youth programs to support for local organizations, our outreach initiatives reflect ACOM’s mission and our belief that better health begins with strong, connected communities.
PROGRAMS THAT MAKE AN IMPACT
ACOM engages in a variety of programs and partnerships to meet the needs of our community. Here are a few of the ways we serve:
Science Fair
The District Science Fair gives students the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in each level of math and science courses. ACOM students and faculty serve as judges and mentors, helping to inspire the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals.
Science Camp
ACOM Science Camp is part of the college’s Beyond the Classroom initiative, helping youth explore science and healthcare through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and real-world experiences.
Community Service
ACOM students, faculty, and staff participate in local service projects, including the Samaritan Clinic, Dothan Rescue Mission, House of Ruth, city clean-up days, drug take-back events, and more.
MEMORANDUMS OF UNDERSTANDING (MOUs)
ACOM has established Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with partner universities to provide students with opportunities to pursue advanced degrees while completing their medical education. These partnerships expand interdisciplinary learning opportunities and allow students to complement their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine education with specialized graduate-level study.
