Biography

Richard R. Thacker, DO, FACOI, serves as Associate Dean of Clinical Resources. Dr. Thacker obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Florida. He earned his DO degree from Southeastern University of the Health Sciences (Nova Southeastern). Dr. Thacker is board-certified in hospice and palliative care and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Dr. Thacker has been a clinical instructor for more than 20 years and serves as medical education director of the ACOM Tallahassee core site. Prior to joining ACOM in his assistant dean role, he was an internal medicine physician with Capital Regional Medical Group. Dr. Thacker serves on the Board of Trustees for the American Osteopathic Association and is past president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. He is proud to serve as advisor to several campus and national student organizations. Dr. Thacker’s current interests include assisting in the development of osteopathic recognition with ACOM’s Alabama GME partners and promoting best practices for clinical education at core sites during years three and four.
