Biography

John T. Giannini Jr., MD, serves as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of Simulation. Dr. Giannini obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisville in Biology and his Physician’s Assistant degree from Duke University. He earned his MD degree from the University of Louisville. As faculty director of the Simulation Center, Dr. Giannini leads a robust clinical simulation curriculum that give students the opportunity to engage in realistic and emergent scenarios in a controlled, team-based setting. He oversees the annual ACOM simulation competition and serves as an advisor to the national competition. Dr. Giannini was recognized with the Outstanding Advancement in Osteopathic Medical Educator award by the AACOM Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents in 2019. Prior to joining ACOM, he served as associate professor at Florida State University College of Medicine. Dr. Giannini’s research focuses on the value of clinical simulation in elevating medical education.
