Biography

Carmen Lewis, Ph.D., MBA, serves as Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness at ACOM. Institutional Effectiveness brings together several primary functions of the College – Institutional Accreditation, Research, Strategic Planning, Assessment, and Evaluation. Dr. Lewis earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and later her Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Management Information Systems concentration from the College of Business at Florida State University. She obtained her MBA from the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University. Dr. Lewis previously served as Associate Dean of the Sorrell College of Business for non-traditional students at Troy University’s Dothan, Montgomery, Phenix City, and TROY Online Campuses. She also held the rank of Associate Professor of quantitative methods and information systems. She served on numerous strategic planning and leadership committees at Troy University during her tenure, including the Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness Committee. Prior to joining Troy University, Dr. Lewis was an interface analyst and programmer analyst for Southeast Health. Her research interests include healthcare and hospital information systems, statistical methods, technology use in higher education, and the importance of access to high-speed Internet in rural areas. At TROY, she received the Sorrell College of Business Faculty Research Award. Her publications include 16 peer-reviewed journal articles, two book chapters, and 32 conference proceedings. She also serves on the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center Board of Directors.
